== Additional tips ==
 +
* Keep several inventory slots available before talking to Zeph so the reward bags can be received safely.
 +
* Use the '''monster ID''' shown by <code>@mission</code>. Different monsters can share the same or a very similar name and sprite.
 +
** For example, Picky IDs 1049 and 1050 share a name, but only one will match the mission target.
 +
* When <code>@whereis</code> reports many spawns but few targets are visible, the monster may have transformed into another form.
 +
** For example, some Fabres on <code>prt_fild06</code> may have changed into Pupa or Creamy. Defeating those forms allows Fabres to spawn again.
 +
* Choose maps with high spawn counts and use <code>@jump</code> to cover them efficiently.
 +
* Party play is supported, but one qualifying party member receives progress from each kill. Coordinate targets so party members do not compete for the same counter.
 +
* Always leave enough time to return to Zeph. Finishing the last kill is not sufficient if the mission expires before the reward is submitted.
 +
<br><br>
 +
== More Tips ==
 +
*Take note that certain mobs may look the same (or almost the same), and have the same names. This means that you need to kill the correct mob with the monster ID indicated by the @mission command. This is a common mistake made by new players that often leads to unnecessary frustration.
 +
**A good example of this would be '''Picky'''. There are two mobs that share the same name, and their highest spawn location is in the same map. However, they have different monster IDs. 1049 and 1050 respectively. They may look almost the same, but they have something different between them. One wears an eggshell hat (1050) on its head, and the other (1049) does not wear anything on its head.
 +
*If you're using @whereis and see a map that has 150 of a certain mob, but after warping into the map you can't find any, most likely is that the mob you're looking for has already evolved. To make the mob that you're looking for spawn, make sure to kill the evolved versions first.
 +
**An example would be Fabre. It spawns in prt_fild06, with 140 spawns. If you arrived there and only find a handful of Fabres, but notice a lot of Pupa and Creamy, you need to kill those two mobs first to make Fabres spawn again.
 +
*For certain monsters that have Ringleader versions, if it can be helped, try to spare the Ringleader and kill only their summons, because they will still count towards completing your Zeph Mission. This is especially helpful if your target monsters have low spawn numbers in a map.
 +
*Get familiar with the monsters. If you do, you’ll often recognize that sometimes there are some Zeph Mission monsters that have common spawn map, where two (or even more) targets are located. Sometimes, going to these maps are more efficient in the long run.
 +
*For increasing efficiency when doing Zeph Missions, use Gray Maps so you can have a better view of the monsters. If you don't use Gray Maps, the usual map terrain will sometimes hinder you. Like, you can't see mobs because they're hidden behind trees.
 +
*When using @whereis, just because there are more monsters in one map, it doesn’t mean that it’s more efficient to go there. A good example of this is the Leaf Cat. There are 65 Leaf Cats in ayo_dun01 while there are 35 Leaf Cats in ayo_fild01. In this case, it’s better to go to ayo_fild01. This is because the maze layout of ayo_dun01 severely limits the range of Illusion Doping and Storm Gust.

Overview

Zeph Hunting Missions are repeatable monster-hunting contracts and one of BraveRO's primary Zeny-farming activities. Each mission assigns five monster targets and must be completed within 60 minutes.

Completing missions unlocks higher mission ranks. Once a rank has been unlocked, you may select it or any lower rank for future missions. Higher ranks generally assign stronger monsters and provide larger rewards.

Zeph's location

Zeph is inside the Death Match Shop in Caspen.

  • From Caspen: enter the building near @warp caspen 151 198.
  • Direct warp: @warp casp_auct02 43 27.
Entrance to the Death Match Shop in Caspen.

The following NPCs can be found inside:

  • Zeph - assigns Hunting Missions and pays their rewards.
  • Death Match Manager - exchanges or sells items using Cash/Death Match Points.
  • Broadcast NPC - sends a server-wide broadcast for a fee. Server broadcasting rules still apply.
  • Top Hunter - displays the current leading hunter.

Quick start

  1. Talk to Zeph and accept a new mission.
  2. Select a mission rank between 1 and your highest unlocked rank.
  3. Review the five targets, required kill counts, time limit, and estimated rewards.
  4. Use @mission at any time to check your remaining targets.
  5. Use @whereis <monster ID or name> to locate each monster.
  6. Defeat every required monster and return to Zeph before the 60-minute timer expires.
  7. Claim your rewards. You may begin another mission immediately afterward.

There is no post-completion cooldown between successful Zeph Missions.

Selecting and unlocking mission ranks

When accepting a mission, Zeph allows you to select any rank from 1 through your highest unlocked rank. You cannot select a rank that your character has not yet unlocked.

Mission-rank progression is character-based and advances whenever that character successfully completes a Zeph Mission. The maximum selectable rank is 99. Some useful progression checkpoints are:

Completed missions Highest unlocked rank
0 1
12 25
25 51
44 89
89 94
134 or more 99

Selecting a lower rank does not remove your unlocked progress. It produces an easier contract with weaker target monsters and a reduced veteran kill-count bonus, but it also results in a lower Zeny reward.

Rank, level, and difficulty

These terms describe different parts of a contract:

  • Selected Rank - the rank you choose before the mission begins. This controls the approximate level of the monsters Zeph can assign.
  • Mission Level - the combined levels of the five assigned monsters. Reward calculations use this value.
  • Difficulty - the Low, Medium, or High label shown in the mission details. It is based on the final Mission Level.

Zeph selects huntable monsters within approximately 14 levels above or below the selected rank. The required kill count depends on the selected rank and the character's mission history. Always review the generated contract before beginning the hunt.

A Zeph Mission's five monster targets.
Mission rank, level, difficulty, and remaining time.

Time limit and mission completion

Every mission has a 60-minute time limit. Both the hunting and the reward turn-in must be completed before the timer expires.

The @mission command displays all unfinished targets and the remaining time. When a correct target is defeated, the game displays the number still required for that monster.

Defeating a correct mission target updates its remaining count.

After all five counters reach zero, return to Zeph and claim the reward before time runs out.

Return to Zeph after completing every target.

If the timer expires before the mission is completed and submitted, the mission fails and no reward is granted. Talking to Zeph afterward allows you to replace the expired mission with a new one.

Rewards

The reward screen previews the mission's Base EXP, Job EXP, total Zeny value, Zeny Bag breakdown, and cash-Zeny remainder.

The mission reward preview.
Reward Details
Zeny Mission Level x 2,437,500. This is paid using 1B Z-Bags, 100M Z-Bags, and cash Zeny for the remaining amount.
Cash/Death Match Points Normally 300 points. The current Top Hunter receives 400 points.
Base EXP and Job EXP Calculated from the five assigned monsters. These rewards have little effect on a character that has already reached the level cap.
Other progress Zeph Missions can advance achievements, daily activity, stamina, guild records, and other connected systems.
Seasonal rewards Additional event currency or rewards may be granted while a supported seasonal event is active.

How the Zeny payment is divided

The total reward is converted in this order:

  1. As many 1B Z-Bags as possible.
  2. As many 100M Z-Bags as possible from the remaining value.
  3. Any amount below 100M is paid as cash Zeny.

For example, a Mission Level of 500 pays:

  • Total value: 1,218,750,000 Zeny
  • 1x 1B Z-Bag
  • 2x 100M Z-Bag
  • 18,750,000 cash Zeny

A character cannot hold more than 2,000,000,000 cash Zeny. If the cash portion of the reward would exceed that limit, Zeph will not consume the completed mission. Deposit or convert enough cash Zeny, make sure there is room in the inventory for the Zeny Bags, and talk to Zeph again to claim the full reward.

Useful commands

Command Purpose and example
@mission Displays unfinished targets, their monster IDs, and the mission timer.
@whereis <monster ID or name> Lists maps where the target normally spawns and the number of spawns. Examples: @whereis 1001 or @whereis poring.
@warp <map> [x] [y] Warps directly to an available map or coordinate. Use a map name found with @whereis.
@jump Teleports to a random walkable location on the current map, similar to using a Fly Wing.
@aloot item <item ID or name> Adds a specific item to the autoloot list. Examples: @aloot item 1011 or @aloot item mace.
@aloot rate 0 Disables rate-based autoloot before configuring a specific item or item-type list.
@aloottype +<type> Adds an item category to the autoloot list. For example, @aloottype +6 adds cards. Use @aloottype without an argument to view available types, and use a minus sign to remove one.
