Introduction


Before I start this long as post please always remember these things that'll be mentioned below :


This 100% works for me so it may or may not work for you.I have been maining the job after I stopped playing sura because of both flee items + night scarf lame abuse which totally killed the fun.

Remember that this is only a guide for the future sorcs that would want to learn about the job, feel free to change what you think is better and would suit your playstyle.

Understand that this guide requires $$$$, means that stuffs such as +8 libra or +10 stuffs are included.

This guide is only for PvP mostly 1v1s but it does work in PvP wars or BG aswell.



Stats

STR: 333 [ I always had 200 before but since LUK doesnt seem to work anymore, I put more str so I can carry more supplies ] I'm now on higher str since  auto sb headgear actually does something cuz I have thana on my weapon Lol.

AGI: 200 [ Aways have 12 agi more after maxing ASPD for the DECREASE AGI ]

VIT: 108

INT: 500

DEX: 350 [ To prevent getting stripped in case you encounter a lame sorc that relies on the blue beats ]

Skills Summary


Magic bolts/Soul Strike/AOE Spells: Lightning/Cold or Fire bolts will be primary sources of damage as a Sorcerer. They deal elemental magic damage and can be spammed endlessly (Be careful on the maya tho, but don't worry thats where your AOE kicks in and deal massive damage on the target that's on maya). You'll basically spam bolts as much as you can and AOE once they switched to maya <- Repeat. Soul Strike [ With naght seiger card ] is the skill that you'll be using to kill bishops or any other jobs that is on GR.


Defensive/Utility Skills:


Energy Coat: It reduces the damage you receive depends on the current SP you got.  %SP Remaining = %Damage Reduction,% of SP used. Long story short, The more sp you got, the more it'll be reduced in exchange of your SP as the sacrifice.

Wall of fog: Reduces the ranged attacks damage by 75% and also makes it hard for them to spam/click on you.

Health Conversion: Converts 10% of your HP into SP

Soul burn: This skill will either burn all your target's SP or yours with a 70% success rate.

Soul change: Exchanges your target's SP with your SP (Can be used if your soul burn fails or Give your party mate's SP). It can be used as a combo with Health conversion.

Land Protector: Cancels out the AOE around you, good skill to dodge certain AOE spells. Can be canceled by Deluge/Volcano/Violent gale, these 3 skills can also be used to boost certain magic elemental spells.

Fire wall: Only purpose of this skill is to kill the soul linkers around, nothing more.

Safety wall: A good skill that can be used on top of Wall of fog to dodge melee attacks while making it hard for them to spam.

Warmer: Cancels Freezing/Frozen status in 7x7 cell. Can be used with anti stone aura when dueling certain jobs that are using Night scarf or other status items.

Magic Rod: Absorbs any single target magical spells

Vacuum Extreme: Targets affected can't move for two seconds.




There are some skills that I have not mentioned above because I believe it isnt necessary so I just listed the core skills that a sorc needs.


Duels

All that's left now is to lists how Sorcerers par with other classes. They're excellent duelist and have plenty of advantages over some classes and disadvantages as well. I will list the classes in order of increasing difficulty based on my experience as an avid PvPer with brief overviews.. (Just copy pasted this from Gabe's guide because im 2 lazy. Ty and fuck u gabe)


Warlocks: Medium/Hard


Land protector/Magic rod/Soul Burn/Soul change are the core skills that you need to fight warlocks. The matchup between these two can go pretty easy or hard depends on how good the warlock is. You start off by spamming bolts/aoe and keeping your distance as much as possible, try not to get frozen or stoned or you'll get raped by the ice wall + aoe/single target spells combo or you can just spam LP and switch to your reflect gears. There are warlocks out there that can do pretty good on both magic crasher + magical spells so you'll need to switch to different shields (Maya,GTB,Cranial) depends on the situtation.

EDIT: Since renewals made warlocks much stronger by having earth strain enabled again, you'll need to use anti strip aura and a shield that is immune to strip. I'd suggest going for undead armor, poring ring and +8 libra or +8 keeper's shield.


Genetics: Medium/Hard


Candy ring [High wizard],Ring of flame lord, valkyrie shield, undead scroll and fireproof resist potion are the core items you need against a genetic. Wall of fog negates the Acid Demonstration. Basically you'll be spamming spider web and wall of fog on top of you while spamming your offensive skills on the genetic, try not to get caught by the thorn trap because the hell's plant the only skill that a genetic can use to kill you, nothing more.

EDIT: I forgot to mention why you should use candy ring and hwc. Homunculus has a very high magic defense and will auto attack you whenever you are in range, this would then make it very hard for you to move to chase the genetic. Having candy ring's endure effect will allow  you to move around to chase while the HWc ignores the hom's magic defense for you to instantly kill it.

Gunslinger: Easy


EA[sinX] - Gunslinger is probably one of the mosh squishy job but can dish out so much damage. Since they have literally no skill but desperado (which requires them to be near you aKa deathwish ) uncloak you, you can easily approach and kill them.

Edit: Rebelions do exist in DRO now so I would leave this as it is until I've figured out more about how it works.


Arch Bishops: Hard


Traveler's Hat/Any Magical damage headgear/Rare wing/Magic aura/Tao gunka/Nydhoggur card/Blue beats are the core equipments you need to duel a bishop. Since bishops are most likely just gonna reflect you to death, you will use that to flinch to spam both single target skills and AOEs. You start off with tao gunka and switch later on to nydhoggur card for the bolts damage boost and meteor storm, you'll basically use the meteor storm to force the bishop to switch on gtb then spam bolts (Spamming dispell while doing this is a must), repeat. You can also use the blue beats/wikebine tres card to try and strip the armor/shield (Optional, only recommended for those who are fast enough to switch)

EDIT: Tried it in renewal and it still works somehow. I had to tweak some of the items I've used to go for whenever I'd duel a bishop. I turned this from Medium to Hard since server now offers alot of resistance items which makes AB nearly impossible to kill now.



Shadow Chaser: Easy/Medium


Poring ring/+8Libra shield/EA[sinx] (Optional).Your land protector negates their manholes, you'll basically only be using this to remove the manhole or dispell the storm gust that'd freeze you.They will try to freeze status you so the first thing you'd want to do is dispell and use any skills to replace the storm gust to any target skills, this would then give you a great advantage since the shadow chaser wont have any other skills but sight or body paint to uncloak you. Decent chasers would keep their distance away from you and would try to manhole you or even surprise you with sight/masquerade skills (This totally worked for me when I used to play chasers and dueled sorcs), so that's probably the last thing you don't wanna happen since you'll be pretty much dead once caught with close confine.

Edit: Since Ambrose Undead Armor has become a thing, I'd usually go for it with poring ring and +8 libra. I'd become immune to Freeze, stone and strip except sleep status which is why having a loyal nightmare terror pet is important. If you have +8 obelisk shield, I'd recommend using that instead since it is immune to strip shield and reflects back any long range damage sc can do.


Rune Knight: Medium/Hard


Heart ring/Valkyrie shield or +8 Libra [Cranial]/Ring of flame lord/Undead scroll and fireproof resist potion/Ring of resonance.Dueling a rune knight is a bit tricky, it is similar to dueling genetics except that you'd want them not to get away from your spider web while you are on your wall of fog + safety wall since they can tension relax or 3rd jobs rune to heal. Wall of fog + safety wall, Spam dispell and spider web on the rk and make sure they are always on the cloud kill poison status while you are spamming all other offensive skills.Ring of resonance is optional, you will only be on this item until you trigger the Asumptio skill, of course this would then negate your heart ring's kyrie effect. You will have to choose between these 2, as for me tho, I am fast enough with switching so I stick with the ring of resonance.


Minstrel/Wanderer: Easy/Hard


Music ring/Royal garment/Ring of resonance/Aesprika. Same as RKs, spam wall of fog and spider web + cloud kill. Royal garment is useful vs long ranged attacks because of its chance to cast pneuma on yourself. Dueling minstrels/wanderers can go pretty easy or hard depends on how good the user is at resisting your elemental attacks.


Sorcerer: Medium/Hard


+10 DH[Fused pharaoh]/Tao gunka/Tunic/+9 Armor[Frus card]/3 Anti stone auras [Orc hero,Resist card or Margaretha Solin card]/Willow staff/Undead scroll/Wind resist or Cold resist potion (Depends on the opponent). Sorcs duel are always tricky, there are so much skills that you'll always have to spam until the duel ends. You'd always want to be on top of your LP and cancel out your target's LP by casting yours on it, you'd then spam bolts to force your target to use magic rod (This would then give you a chance to spam your AOEs while you are at it since sorcs can't spam magic rod and LP at the same time, unless of course you are using 0delay of which I doubt is still working). There are many ways to fight sorcs, you can spam arullo while trying to strip or you can just switch to full reflect and spam LP as much as possible, as for me I prefer bolts/aoe and land protector wars since its more satisfying and enjoyable. The 3 Auras I have mentioned above are indeed unsual since most of the players would stick with the orc hero card. Margaretha solin card inflicts silence when you receive any magical damage, can be useful against sorcs that have no anti silence. Orc hero is only optional when you are fighting against a sorc that strips and using LODc to inflict stun status on you.

Socerers dont have any skill that inflicts stun status <--- PS EDIT: Varetyr Spear is now usable again and it has chance to stun the target so it depends on you which build you'd want to use

I use a very different build when dueling sorcs, I wouldn't go as far as sharing the last thing I am keeping as secret as a sorcerer player.


Alternate build:




Wind elemental armor turns your element into lvl 1 wind, you'll  take less damage from other 3 elements except water. This SS shows you my complete set of items using an elemental armor. It allows you to reduce the damage you take down to 3 digits (Last time I tested with undead scroll, I only took about 300-305 damage from lightning bolt,250-300 from cold bolt,700 from fire and immune to earth element), so this build basically allows you to be very tank vs other sorcs while doing so much damage unless of course you are dueling vs a sorc that is using a similar build, that'd mean >>>> a long ass duel. Just a reminder, you can play around with +9 elemental armor with frus card than switching to tunic and taking bolts damage. My weap is now level 4 so im down with a better build right now and wont share it until I feel like it.

Edit: Renewals offer alot of different items which is why i'm using a different build now. I still use this sometimes and it is still working.


Guillotine Cross: Easy


Wall of fog and safety wall makes them useless. Spam soul burn and dispell as much as possible and bolts them to death (Easy for me to say because it is actually easy to duel a gx). Vacuum Extreme disables them from moving and that makes backslide the only way for them to reach ya. Varetyr spear does alot of damage so i'd recommend to always use it.


Royal guard: Hard


Dueling a hybrid royal guard is hard. They can use earth drive to cancel out your wall of fog, shield spell to heal and lastly pressure to burn your sp. Spam your wall of fog and safety wall/dispell, spider web and aoe spells on the royal guard and make sure you never let go of them since they would probably just keep their distance to spam heal and come back when full again.The duel should be easy if you manage to completely disable the royal guard. otherwise you'll be losing hp while your target regains his.

Edit: Renewal made royal guards even stronger. Tactics still work but i'm still looking for better builds to counter one.


Mechanic: ?????


I have never played against any mechanics using my sorcerer so I'll leave this blank.


Ranger: Easy/Medium


Wall of fog/Royal garment/+8 Libra negates pretty much a ranger has except the traps. Use cloak when trying to approach the ranger, make sure not to get caught by traps otherwise you'll be spamming cloak in order to dodge the incoming ranged attacks. Once caught with spider web, use soul burn and spam bolts+aoe. Gem of sight now exists, use one to destroy the traps around the area but do make sure that you don't have the sight on so you can cloak. Only use it to destroy traps. Having +8 obelisk is important since most of ranger's offensive skills are ranged skills.


Sura: Medium/Hard


+8 Libra/Aesprika/Deviling/Ring of resonance/Ghostring scrolls[Optional]. The sura's main tactic would be the status/asura combo where they'll just try to keep their distance away while trying to status you with ride of lightning. Warmer + anti stone may or may not work depends on the sura. Spam wall of fog,safety wall and spider web [to prevent asura] because the sura is most likely going to spam knuckle arrow/skynet/windmill and asura you once safety wall is broken, if fast enough at spamming safety wall there'll be no chance for the sura to make this combo work. Ring of resonance as mentioned above can be used just to trigger the assumptio to reduce the incoming damage or you can also use it to tarot (Won few duels against suras with it). Deviling's only purpose is to reduce the goh and asura's damage since they are both forced neutral.

Edit: Asura now does alot of damage and renewal's sorcerer HP is low so you're pretty much a dead meat when you get hit by one.



Closing statements


I haven't really been playing the job for that long but I can safely say that I am one of the sorcer players around this server that can actually use the job perfectly. All thanks to Rob which I considered and still consider as the best sorc in this server (Its fucking official), brent for letting me rape him even tho he already has level 4 but still gets beaten easily (Such a shame, delete that level 4 weapon sorc!!1!!11), Gabe because this is obviously similar to his mechanic guide.


Important changes to take note:

Upgraded weapons now affect magics and boosts their damage.

God of creation set/ancient samurai set have been added to the game. I main this set most of the time. <-- I actually don't know where I should put this which is why its here Lol.
