Instance Guide - Ultimate Solo Horror Factory Guide for All Classes!!
Posted by: Elaina - 05-11-2022, 03:21 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous Guides - No Replies

Hi guys! Let me share my Horror Factory build - FOR ALL CLASSES!

But before I start with my build, let me first introduce Horror Factory to our newbie friends.

Horror Factory is an instance dungeon where you can get tons of cool things from. It is also the dungeon where the MVP Celine Kimi resides.

Here are some of the items you can get inside Horror Factory:

  1. Bloody Coin - Crafting Ingredient
  2. Bloody Letter - Crafting Ingredient
  3. Unsent Letter - Crafting Ingredient
  4. Red Lantern - @ii2 2976 (Crafting Ingredient)
  5. Wounded Heart - @ii2 2977 (Crafting Ingredient)
  6. Gentle Heart - @ii2 2978 (Crafting Ingredient)
  7. Celine Ribbon - @ii2 22600
  8. Closed Mind Box - an item that can be opened by paying 50m zeny to Luh Key. Contains random Horror Factory loot.
  9. Enriched Elunium Box (10)
  10. 100m zeny bags
  11. Ghostring Scrolls
  12. Aspesio Box (10)
  13. Legendary Card Album - gives random MVP card.
  14. Pure Elunium and Pure Oridecon Fragments
  15. Combat Coins - used to buy Combat Equipments in hero_camp 210 215
  16. Fortune Headgear Chest - gives random headgear (including some RARES!)
  17. Horror Factory mobs' cards
  18. Celine Kimi Card

You can also do the quests at the entrance of the instance dungeon where you can get the following rewards:
  1. Celine Ribbon - @ii2 22600
  2. Noble Cross - @ii2 16029
  3. Evil Spirits Gloves - @ii2 2980
  4. Celine Ribbon Costume - @ii2 20232

Tempting right? Now, how do I access Horror Factory? To get there, talk to the Main NPC>Warper>Instances>Horror Factory.

Now, time for the build.

STATS:
STR: 300-400ish for decent attack
AGI: enough for 195 attack speed
VIT: Prioritize this since you need a decent amount of HP incase Celine Kimi and her phantom use their Pulse Strike skill https://irowiki.org/wiki/NPC_PULSESTRIKE (thanks Friday05). Hint: When their dialogue is "Annoying flies!! Get off of me!" spam Mastela Fruit.
INT: 300-400ish for decent magic attack
DEX: 200ish for non-caster classes 400 for caster classes
LUK: none

WHAT TO DO:
  1. IMPORTANT: Bring a Smokie Pet with equipped accessory for perfect hide (except GX since Cloaking Exceed already has perfect hide status). It means demon/ghost/insect monsters can't detect you when you are cloaked.
  2. Assuming you follow the walkthrough I linked above, follow these additional instructions.
  3. For stage 1, lure the monsters and kill them until a message pops up and proceed to Stage 2.
  4. For stage 2, do not transform after talking to the NPC. Instead, cloak and click all the Cookie NPCs (do not uncloak, you will die). This way, you will save a lot of time since you can move right away after clicking the NPCs instead of waiting if you do it the usual way.
  5. For stage 3, cloak and look for Antonio. Unequip any Auto-Grand Cross equipment and wear Rainy Cloud, Elemental Sword (if applicable) and/or Mercury Relic. Kill Antonio as fast as possible and proceed to the Boss Stage.

BOSS STAGE!
For this stage, you need to switch to your full magic reflect build.

BUILD #1 - FOR GENERAL USE (High Reflect Damage)
Any +9/10 [2] Slotted Headgear - - - 2x Fused Pharaoh Card
Any Delay/+Boss DMG/+ATK Wing - - - Addax Card/Kiel D-01 Card (depending on the delay reduction you need)
Any +HP Aura - - - Addax Card
+5~+10 Battleground Armor of your class (another reason to @joinbg) - - - Frus Card
Any Weapon - - - Pyuriel Cards
Any Anti-Knockback Shield - - - Maya Card
Battleground Garment of your class - - - Devilring Card
Battleground Boots of your class - - - Cat O' Ninetails Card
2x Adamite Pendant/Copper Rosary/Aluminum Gloves - - - Gem of Pneuma and Gem of Echo (if your Armor has less that +8 refine) or ATK/MATK card

BUILD #2 - FOR DAMAGE DEALERS (High Reflect Damage + Own Damage) *FASTEST KILL*
Any +9/10 [2] Slotted Headgear - - - Fused Pharaoh Card
Any Delay/+Boss DMG/+ATK Wing - - - Addax Card/Kiel D-01 Card (depending on the delay reduction you need)
Any Boss Damage Aura  - - - Addax Card
+5~10 Battleground Armor of your class (another reason to @joinbg) - - - Frus Card
Any Weapon - - - Pyuriel Cards
Any Anti-Knockback Shield - - - Maya Card
Battleground Garment of your class - - - Devilring Card
Battleground Boots of your class - - - Cat O' Ninetails Card  (depending on lacking %chance to reflect magic)
2x Adamite Pendant/Copper Rosary/Aluminum Gloves - - - Gem of Pneuma and Gem of Echo (depending on lacking %chance to reflect magic)

BUILD #3 - FOR PEOPLE WITHOUT BATTLEGROUNDS GEAR and +9/10 HERO AURA (Lesser Reflect Damage but High Survivability Rate)
Any +9/10 [2] Slotted Headgear - - - 2x Fused Pharaoh Card
Any Delay/+Boss DMG/+ATK Wing - - - Addax Card/Kiel D-01 Card (depending on the delay reduction you need)
Any +HP Aura - - - Addax Card

Glorified Garment - - - Devilring Card
Sleipnir of the Gods or Any Boots - - - Amon Ra Card
2x Adamite Pendant/Copper Rosary/Aluminum Gloves - - - Gem of Pneuma and any other card

THINGS TO DO:
  • Always use Cursed Water (doesn't matter if you attack or just standing still). Re-apply if dispelled.
  • If you are a range-class or using a range-type skill, move as far as you can from both Celine Kimi and her phantom. This way you are less likely to get hit by their Pulse Strike skill
  • If you are a damage dealer, focus your attacks on Celine Kimi. She uses a lower level of Esma compared to her phantom so the damage reflected to her is always lesser than the damage reflected to her phantom. FYI: Celine Kimi and her Phantom will heal each other if the difference on their HP bars are greater than 1%.
  • If you have a buff/skill that reduces range damage, use it always. Use Pneuma for Acolyte classes (+Kyrie Eleison for priests), Defender for Paladins/Royal Guards, Wall of Fog for Professors, Reverse Tatami+Cicada Skin for Ninjas (Celine Kimi and her phantom can't hurt ninjas lol), etc etc.
  • Bring a lot of Mastela Fruits and eat whenever your HP drops 90% (except for tougher classes). Celine Kimi and her phantom sometimes cast their OP skill at the same time. Hint: When their dialogue is "Annoying flies!! Get off of me!", eat Mastela Fruit like there's no tomorrow xD.
  • Be patient. This is time-consuming for some classes as Celine Kimi and her phantom regularly heals each other. There are also times that you will die. It is normal. Just keep practicing.
  • Use Bubblegum/HE Gum or switch to Fortuna Card-equipped accessory before killing Celine Kimi.
  • After Celine Kimi is killed, don't forget to enter the treasure room. Loot all boxes before you exit.
  • HAVE FUN!

Feel free to modify the build however you like. Also, please comment the screenshots of your Horror Factory adventure while using this build to encourage players to try the instance dungeon.

***IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING USEFUL TO ADD, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO COMMENT. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
The classes I've used in soloing Horror Factory are:
  • RG - 4m+ HP using Shield Chain while maintaining Defender and Auto Guard
  • GX - 2m+ HP using Rolling Cutter on Celine Kimi while maintaining maximum distance from her phantom.
  • RK - 3m+ HP using Hundred Spear on Celine Kimi while maintaining maximum distance from her phantom.
  • AB - 2m+ HP spamming Pneuma and Kyrie on self while maintaining maximum distance from Kimi and her phantom.
  • WL - 1m+ HP spamming Hell Inferno on Kimi while maintaining maximum distance from Kimi and her phantom. Eat Mastela Fruit whenever I get hit. Praying to RNGsus for auto-pneuma to proc lol.
  • Ninja - 1m+ HP spamming Reverse Tatami and Cicada Skin (distance doesn't matter, Kimi can't even do 1 damage).
  • Ranger - 3m+ HP spamming Double Strafe on Kimi while maintaining maximum distance from both of them.
  • Sura - 2m+ HP spamming Pneuma on yourself. You can also spam Finger Offensive on Kimi to balance their HP.
  • Linker - 2m+ HP spamming Esma on Celine Kimi while maintaining maximum distance from both of them. Use buffs when dispelled.

What's really important in this build is to pump your HP to the max or at least 2m for those classes with low HP pool. My WL only has 1.6m HP but it is still doable.

Below are the methods for other classes submitted by other players.
  • Rebellion - 1m+ HP spamming desperado while using [2] slotted headgear with Fused Pharaoh Card, +10 Armor with Frus Card, Maya Card on shield, Fused Dracula on weapon and damage gears for the rest. Submitted by Malaphar

AUTOLOOT LIST:
Just use @autoloot rate 100

You can refer to the iRO Guide or Xileria's Walkthrough (will add this later) for a more in-depth guide. I will, instead, show you the equipment and things you need to do on each stage.

Stage 1: Entrance (Step 1-3 of iRO wiki)

This will be your default equipment on entry. No converters are required but you can use Fire Element Converter if you wish for more damage. You can choose to kill the spawned monsters or just ignore them until they are killed by the NPCs. Use Rolling Cutter for mobbing, and Enchanted Deadly Poison as your main buff. You can opt to use Dark Illusion and Back Slide to move around easier.

Stage 2: Wraiths and Zombies (Step 4-6 of iRO wiki)
Use Fire Element Converter (or Aspersio scroll if you are rolling in dough), and non-Thanatos weapon. Kill all mobs until they despawn, and find Altar Boy Domun. Use Rolling Cutter for mobbing, and Enchanted Deadly Poison as your main buff. You can opt to use Dark Illusion and Back Slide to move around easier.

Stage 3: ARGH ARE THOSE MAGGOTS? (Step 7 of iRO wiki)
You can choose to trigger or avoid the dead bodies - which will spawn maggots that have drops Coagulated Spells. I advise you to kill them if you have FCP, as they drop a lot of Coagulated Spells. Kill everything until they despawn, and find Holgren the Destroyer. Use Rolling Cutter for mobbing, and Enchanted Deadly Poison as your main buff. You can opt to use Dark Illusion and Back Slide to move around easier.

Stage 4: ... Till I took an arrow in the knee (Step 8-9 of iRO wiki)
The Knights have higher flee, so use your Obelisk Shoes here. Kill enough mobs until they despawn, and head to the center of the stage. Place your tank 1 cell below Varmundt, and wait for Root Corruption to spawn. Use Rolling Cutter for mobbing, and Enchanted Deadly Poison as your main buff. You can opt to use Dark Illusion and Back Slide to move around easier.

Use Sonic Blow while your tank sucks the damage. You can use Aspersio Scroll for more damage, and Dark Claw on Root Corruption once it's off cooldown for a burst of damage. Once Corrupted Root is dead, talk to Varmundt on all characters to get a bonus Temporal Crystal and Coagulated Spell. Make sure to keep your tank alive.

Stage 5: Motherf*ckin Knights on this motherf*ckin stage (Step 10-13 of iRO wiki)
Use Rolling Cutter for mobbing, and Enchanted Deadly Poison as your main buff. You can opt to use Dark Illusion and Back Slide to move around easier. Focus mainly on everything except Abysmal Knights (leave them last, and use Thanatos Weapon + Water Element Converter to kill them quickly). Kill enough mobs and a text message : "an evil presence bleble" will tell you that the Commander of Destruction has spawned.
Find the Commander before switching gears (if you are unexperienced, you may want to lure the Commander to a less-crowded area, as Abysmal Knights have a hard-hitting Spear Boomerang)

Your HIT must be at least 2000 when attacking Commander of Destruction. Use Enchant Poison on yourself, and Venom Impress on the Commander, and Rolling Cutter as your main damage skill. You can use Dark Claw for a burst of damage as well. Spam Mastelas as the Spiral Pierce from the Commander hurts. The Commander may switch to Fire Element when low on health (Berserk mode), so use Water Element Converter when you notice a drop in your damage.
Repeat for the next portal as well.

Stage 6 : Amdaed if he doesn't drop a card (Step 14 - 15 of iRO wiki)
Switch to default gears and clear all the bodies near you. Be careful not to trigger the NPCs before you clear all the maggots. You can leave your tank outside to Resurrect you should you accidentally die.

Once all maggots are dead, switch to Amdarais equipment

Before Amdarais spawns, and while the NPCs are shittalking, look out for a dialog that says "Oh I'm so scared~". That is your cue to start dropping Mastelas or random items outside of the raised pentagram platform. This ensures that the fucking Taliban zombies don't allahuakbar on you - they deal 20m damage, each.

Use Ghostring Scroll, Cursed Water and Rolling Cutter to hit Amdarais, and you can toggle between Creed Helm and Fresh Roses to maximize your damage. You can use Dark Claw for a burst of damage.

When a red dialog appears saying "a foul stench", STOP SPINNIN YOUR HEAD RIGHT ROUND RIGHT ROUND - this is to make sure you don't accidently hit the zombies and draw aggro - you want them to be roaming around trying to loot the stuff you dropped around the ground.

Tada, Amdarais should be dead.

Enjoy farming!

Spriting for Dummies - Beginner Edition!
Posted by: Elaina - 05-10-2022, 06:30 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous Guides - No Replies

Spriting for Dummies - Beginner Edition!

Programs needed before starting:
• An Image editing software -> I'll use Photoshop in this guide
• actOR | actOR2 | Act Editor -> I'll use actOR 2 in this guide
• SPRconview -> to put bmps into spr. and vice versa

Step 1: Pick a custom or design one yourself that you want to see later in-game. Do note: You need every single Custom frame from every angle as a single picture.
For this guide I picked a Frozen Ice Dragon Spirit

Now.. depending on the custom you pick, they can have 1 to fifteen frames, unless it's an animated custom, which will have around 40 frames or more depending on the animation. Now we need the frames from all angles, because we want to see the character from all angles right?

To make a custom you'll need a .spr file which has all the images and frames inside and an .act file which holds the positions from the custom (you don't want the custom to be in mid air while you wear it right?)

We'll start with creating a .spr file
The first thing we'll do is to make sure that every file we have is an individual picture so we can edit every frame.

As you can see we got 5 frames in total and they are covering every angle.
The second thing would be the edit of the colours so SPRconview knows what background color should be transparent.
For that we'll open Photoshop, pick the first frame, then click on Image -> Mode -> Indexed Color

Click on indexed color and then you'll see this window popping up.

This step is very important or it'll mess your colors up. We will change the Palette to "Custom..." to make the background of the custom transparent. Otherwise you would run around with a Red square. Would look silly, right?
(Make sure that before you select Custom, the drop down menu is already set to Exact. If not, select Exact and then go to Custom.)
Once you picked Custom and clicked OK
Then a window like this will appear

Basically we are switching the colors between the transparent background color and the black color.

The first color of the palette will be the transparent background color. In our case it would be red. So we pick the red color from our palette and put it in the first slot. Once done, click on "Save..." and save the palette somewhere. I've saved my palette file out as "palette_frozenIDS.act." <- This is not the act file we'll edit later so you might want to save it somewhere else so you won't get confused. Now that you have all of the color information done, save your file. Save it as an 8-bit .bmp file. All of your frames should have the same color palette. You can load your color palette by going to the "Custom" drop down menu and clicking "Load..." on the right hand side to select your palette file.

Repeat this step for all your frames.

Now your folder should look like this
[Image: RdBsTWW.png]

Now go into your sprite data folder and pick a headgear that you feel is the closest to the headgear you're working on. For the Frozen IDS, I've chosen the Ice Dragon Spirit. So copy and paste the .act/.spr files of the headgear into the folder of the headgear you are working on.

Now open up SPRconview. Now go to Convert > Bmp to Spr. You will get another pop up window. Add all of the frames of your headgear and make sure that they're in numerical order. Under where it says Sprite, hit Browse and browse to where you saved the .spr file of the headgear you chose. Remember, I chose the Ice Dragon Spirit. After you've done that, click Convert. Done with your .spr file!

When you do this, SPRconview will replace the images of the original headgear with the ones you have made. Open up the .spr file and check to make sure everything is alright! Scroll through it and make sure the colors aren't all off either, as well as the transparency.

It does look fine for me or what do you think? Save it! Now we'll get to the .act file!

Open actOR 2 and open the .act file you dragged out of your sprite folder earlier

It should look like this once you opened it. Don't worry some sprites can be off location.. then you'll just have to set them to the correct location on the small window.

Now I'll explain what you can see in Actor
[Image: STyz3WJ.png]

  • Action - This refers to each of the acts that correspond with an action in Ragnarok. In the drop down menu, there are 13 acts, going from 0-12. Act 00 is the act for standing, act 01 is for walking, act 02 is for sitting, etc. You have to check every single act and every single direction to make sure that the custom locations are set properly. This is the most time consuming and annoying part.
  • Direction -  This shows all the directions of the sprite that'll be in-game. Make sure that every frame is set correctly.
  • Sprite Frames -  for each pose/angle, there are several frames. this scroll bar scrolls through all of them. You must check through all of these to make sure that the custom locations are set properly.
  • Reference -  This is just a help for the player to set his custom location easier. It has no impact on the sprite or in-game.
  • Xoffs -  this is the x-coordinate of the headgear. You can edit this value by clicking and dragging the headgear by hand, or hold the value under Xoffs with a certain timing to change it numerically.
  • Yoffs - this is they-coordinate of the headgear. You can edit this value by clicking and dragging the headgear by hand, or hold the value under Yoffs with a certain timing to change it numerically.
  • EXT -  this simply refers to the reference head sprite/hairstyle. It has no impact on the actual sprite or in-game.
  • Mirror - On some directions you'll have to mirror your sprite. Click on Mirror so your sprite will gain a red square and then click on the sprite to press M to mirror it.
  • ROT - This is the Rotation which is mostly used for the Act where you pick up items.
  • That is basically all you need to know of actOR 2 to get the job done.

Now you must go through all the .act's angles and frames to make sure the custom locations are correct. Once you are done, simply save your file. Now you have your own self made custom!

This will be the last Part of this guide - Adding the sprite into the game!

First off, you'll go into your data folder -> then you go into the sprite folder -> you'll see two folders there -> go into the ¾Ç¼¼»ç¸® folder -> now you are at the point where you see a ³² folder and a ¿© folder. What do they mean?
  • The ¾Ç¼¼»Ç¸® folder is where your headgears reside. Underneath this folder are two other folders.
  • ¿© is the female folder -> put your custom in this if you want your custom to be available for females
  • ³² is the male folder -> put your custom in this if you want your custom to be available for males
Your custom sprite and act file need to have one of the two prefixes in their name. For example: I picked the name ³²_frozenIDS earlier, so my custom will be shown for males only and it'll be put into the ³² folder.

If you also want it to be for females available or only shown for females then you'd have to rename it into ¿©_frozenIDS and put it inside the ¿© folder. You can also rename your self-made custom into one of your customs that you are using to change the sprite of your custom into your self-made one! But note: You are the only one who can see the self-made sprite.

I hope I'll see some great artworks someday!
