KymchiRanger - MVP / PVE Hunting Guide
#1
[Image: WsFXzJ7.png]

GENERAL STATS
(When you're just using Bow skills and Auto-Attacking with either Warg or Falcon)
  • STR - 270 (For carrying a lot of stuff; i.e. your items, spare items, potions, buff items, etc.)
  • AGI - 130 (Just put enough here so your ASPD won't get decreased due to being hit by Decrease AGI or until it hits 195 ASPD)
  • VIT - 300 (For survivability)
  • INT - 110 (Just enough for your SP pool or you can just allocate the stat points here to LUK or VIT)
  • DEX - 500 (Your main stat, so max it)
  • LUK - 300 (For times when you're bored and just go with normal attacks. Also for proccing Blitz Beat or Wug Strike 100% of the time)

HYBRID STAT
(When mainly using Bow and Falcon skills. You probably need to be properly geared for this to somehow work for you. You can also use traps if you want)
  • STR - 150 (Just enough so that you won't get 90% overweight)
  • AGI - 50 (Auto attacking is not necessary. However your ASPD will be near or even hit 195 depending on your equipment)
  • VIT - 50 (You don't need to allocate too much here if the monsters die fast enough)
  • INT - 500 (Simply for increasing Falcon Assault's damage)
  • DEX - 500 (Your main stat)
  • LUK - 100 (I'm mainly using skills so, I don't really need that much LUK in this case)

THE EQUIPMENT

UPPER HEADGEAR
  • ITEM: Desert Prince Cap (Or any upper headgear that gives the same or effect)
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get the Desert Prince Cap from the Vote4Points Shop (@warp caspen 147 210) for 20 Tokens.
  • CARD: Kiel D-01
  • USAGE: The headgear's' effect of giving you a chance to convert a percentage of your damage dealt into Health is invaluable. Most of the time, this will save you from bringing any healing items. The skill delay reduction is needed in using Sharpshooting since it has an after cast delay.

MIDDLE HEADGEAR
  • ITEM 1: Antique Demon Wings / Baron Dragon Wings / Bloody Angel Wings / Flaming Fire Wings (Or any wing that gives at least 25% Skill Delay Reduction)
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get the Antique Demon Wings and Baron Dragon Wings from the Vote4Points Shop (@warp caspen 147 210) for 120 Vote Tokens each. You can get the Bloody Angel Wings and Flaming Fire Wings at the Daily Quest NPC (@warp caspen 180 185) for 8 dRO Quest Tokens each.
  • CARD: Kiel D-01
  • USAGE: The skill delay reduction from Kiel D-01 and the headgear is needed in using Sharpshooting since it has an after cast delay.

  • ITEM 2: Shaira Wings / Red Fluffy Wings (Or any wing that an anti-strip effect)
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get the Shaira Wings from the Vote4Points Shop (@warp caspen 147 210) for 120 Vote Tokens. You can get the Red Fluffy Wings at the Daily Quest NPC (@warp caspen 180 185) for 8 dRO Quest Tokens.
  • CARD: Kiel D-01
  • USAGE: Some bosses (or their summons) have the nasty habit of stripping your equipment (ex. Moonlight Flower and the Lighthalzen Bosses) and using this wing will prevent that. The skill delay reduction from Kiel D-01 and the headgear is needed in using Sharpshooting since it has an after cast delay.

LOWER HEADGEAR
  • ITEM: Melody Ring / Floating Balloons (Or any lower headgear that gives the same or effect)
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get the Melody Ring from the Vote4Points Shop (@warp caspen 147 210) for 120 Vote Tokens. The Floating Balloons can be bought from the Daily Quest NPC (@warp caspen 180 185) for 8 dRO Quest Tokens.
  • CARD: Orc Hero or Glorifed Orc Hero
  • USAGE: This will serve as your primary resist item. Getting stunned, silenced, or frozen are some of the most annoying things that can happen when you're hunting. You can just ignore being knocked back since you can just continue using skills or auto-attacks at range.

WEAPON
  • ITEM: Death Ballista / Gastraphetes / Quincy Cross
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get the Death Ballista from the Daily Quest NPC (caspen 180 185) for 2 dRO Quest Tokens. Alternatively, you can get it by exchanging a Death Weapon Coupon at the Achievement Manager. Most of the time veteran players are willing to give one for free to newbies, however, you can also buy it from the vending area (@go vend) for around 1b-2b zeny. You can get a Gastraphetes Bow as a reward for the Rank B Hero Weapon Quest. You can get a Quincy Cross Bow as a reward for your first Elite Weapon.
  • CARD: Use two sets of bows. One for non-thanable MVPs (or your all-purpose bow) and the other for thanable ones (meaning, using a Thanatos Card will hurt them more)
  • BOW 1: 2x Turtle General Card, 1 Randgris Card, 1 Fused Dracula Card
  • BOW 2: 2x Abysmal Knight Card, 1 Randgris Card, 1 Thanatos Card
  • USAGE: As explained above, use the appropriate bow for each boss. The purpose of the Randgris Card is that some MVPs can break your weapon and you don't want to return to town to repair only to go back and find out that it has teleported or been killed by another player, or you're inside an instance with an inescapable cooldown once you exit it in any way and you have to wait for it. The Fused Dracula is there (aside from increasing your damage) to act as a fail-safe in case your Upper Headgear gets broken.

SHIELD
  • ITEM: Valkyrie Shield
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can a Valkyrie Shield from a Valkyrie mob at Odin Temple (@warp odin_tem03). You can also get it from the Death Match Manager NPC (@warp casp_auct02 34 28) for 250 DM Points.
  • CARDS: Alice,  Thara Frog
  • USAGE: Aside from the shield's built-in damage reduction to Water, Fire, Shadow, and Undead elements, using a Valkyrie Shield equipped with an Alice Card will reduce the damage from Boss Monsters by 40%. When facing Lighthalzen Bosses (ex. Lord Knight Seyren), you might want to switch to a Thara Frog Card equipped Valkyrie Shield since they and their summons will hurt quite a bit.

ARMOR
  • ITEM: White Wing Suit
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get a White Wing Suit from Anubis (@warp in_sphinx4).
  • CARDS: Tao Gunka, Gloom Under Night, Ktullanux, Evil Druid
  • USAGE: You will be bringing several White Wing Suits with the attached cards above. As part of the White Wing Set, using the complete set will grant you +2 ASPD, Arrow Storm Damage +50%, Long Range Physical Attack +30%, and a chance of auto casting Level 3 Double Strafe when dealing long range physical attacks. Your primary armor will be the one with the Tao Gunka Card. Just switch to the following for certain circumstances.
  1. Gloom Under Night: Use when facing monsters with Holy or Shadow Element, and Angel  or Demon Race, it will increase your damage against them.
  2. Ktullanux: Use when facing Fire Element Monsters, it will increase your damage against them.
  3. Evil Druid: To avoid getting massively damaged by certain MVPs like Pharaoh and Evil Snake Lord.

GARMENT
  • ITEM: White Wing Manteau
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get this from the Guardian of Power NPC (@warp mora 153 96) at Mora Vilalge for 10 Mora Coins. You can get Mora Coins by doing the various Quests there. You can unlock Mora Daily Quests by completing first the Wandering Guardian Quest. You can also exchange your Silvervine Fruit (acquired from participating in Battlegrounds) into Grade A Coins >> Grade B Coins >> Grade C Coins in the Malandgo Coin Exchanger CX-1 NPC (@warp malangdo 221 166). Using Grade C Coins, you can exchange them into Mora Coins via the Dark Merchant K (@warp malangdo 235 177).
  • CARD: This item has no slot.
  • USAGE: As part of the White Wing Set, using the complete set will grant you +2 ASPD, Arrow Storm Damage +50%, Long Range Physical Attack +30%, and a chance of auto casting Level 3 Double Strafe when dealing long range physical attacks.

SHOES
  • ITEM: White Wing Shoes
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get this from the Guardian of Power NPC (@warp mora 153 96) at Mora Village for 10 Mora Coins.
  • CARD: Fused Edgga or Amon Ra
  • USAGE: To avoid getting locked in a spot due to sustaining a lot of hits, getting the Endure effect of the Fused Edgga is a life-saver. Use the Fused one since the normal Edgga Card will reduce your HP by 25%. Alternatively, you can also use an Amon Ra Card for defensive purposes. As part of the White Wing Set, using the complete set will grant you +2 ASPD, Arrow Storm Damage +50%, Long Range Physical Attack +30%, and a chance of auto casting Level 3 Double Strafe when dealing long range physical attacks.

ACCESSORY 1
  • ITEM: White Wing Brooch
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get a White Wing Brooch from Gold Acidus (@warp abyss_03) or Blue Acidus (@warp abyss_02).
  • CARD: This item has no slot.
  • USAGE: It has a good effect of increasing your long range physical attacks by 3%. As part of the White Wing Set, using the complete set will grant you +2 ASPD, Arrow Storm Damage +50%, Long Range Physical Attack +30%, and a chance of auto casting Level 3 Double Strafe when dealing long range physical attacks.

ACCESSORY 2
  • ITEM: Aluminium Gloves
  • OBTAIN LOCATION: You can get this item from Forging, BraveRO Market (@go 49 or @go market) for 7 BraveRO Tokens. Alternatively, you can just buy this from other players for around 3b to 4b zeny.
  • CARD: Gold Scaraba
  • USAGE: The 5% skill delay reduction is a nice thing to have aside from its stat bonuses. The card will also give you a +200 to your ATK.

ARROWS
Bring all elemental arrows with the highest damage per element. You can get these from the Projectile Dealer NPC (@warp ayo_in01 26 91) at the Zeny Mall (@go 48). Since arrows are not consumed at all, you only need to bring enough so that your skills will work. You only need ten of each arrow.

Arrow of Wind (Wind), Crystal Arrow (Water) , Fire Arrow (Fire), Stone Arrow (Earth), Holy Arrow (Holy), Arrow of Shadow (Shadow), Immaterial Arrow (Ghost), Rusty Arrow (Poison), and Oridecon Arrow (Neutral).

PETS
A good stat increasing pet is invaluable. You can start off by getting the Custom Pets from the Pet Hunter NPC (@warp casp_in01 60 191) using Golden Pet Coins. You can get Golden Pet Coins from the Vote4Points Shop (@warp caspen 147 210) for 20 Vote Tokens each. Depending on the Pet you want from the Pet Hunter NPC, it can cost you 1 to 2 Golden Pet Coins. These pets give +30 to STR, INT, and DEX. Before the stats will be applied, you need to feed your pet regularly first until its Intimacy becomes Cordial. However, I often notice that the effects are also applied when the pet is still at Neutral. Regardless, just keep on raising its intimacy until the pet's effects kick in.

For other pets that give better effects and stats, you can purchase them from the BraveRO Market (@go 49 or @go market) Pet Eggs NPC or from other players, whichever is cheaper. To have an idea of the pets that you might want to get, you can refer to this custom pet guide for BraveRO. Various pets may also become available during seasonal events. Make sure to check on those if you have enough event materials to buy some.

ITEMS AND CONSUMABLES TO BRING
  • Mastela Fruit or Yggdrasil Berries - Primarily use Mastela Fruit since it has little to no cooldown between usage and this will save you more often than not. Use the Berries for times when you can't use Mastela like in Caspen Dungeon. You can get these from the All-Purpose Tool Dealer in Caspen (@warp caspen 156 193) or at the Zeny Mall (@go 48). You can also farm for these items inside Bossnia, at the Death Field (@warp izlu2dun), or in the Royal Chamber.
  • Aloevera - Using this item will cast Provoke on yourself, thus slightly increasing your damage. You can farm this item from Sky Petite (@warp gef_fild08) and Earth Petite (@warp gef_fild06).
  • LV10 Blessing Scroll - An extra +30 to your STR, INT, and DEX is always a good thing to have. You can get this from the All-Purpose Tool Dealer in Caspen (@warp caspen 156 193) or at the Zeny Mall (@go 48), or farm it from Smuck (@warp izlu2dun).
  • Guarana Candy - An alternative to buying LV10 Agility Scrolls. It casts LV 5 Increase AGI on yourself. Using this item will cancel the effects of Decrease AGI on you. You can get this item by doing the Guarana Quest.
  • Panacea - Your all around solution to status effects. You'll be mostly using this when you're blinded, poisoned, and cursed. You can get this from the All-Purpose Tool Dealer in Caspen (@warp caspen 156 193) or at the Zeny Mall (@go 48).
  • Wolf Flute - An item required to summon your Warg. You can get one from the 3rd Jobs Shop NPC in the Zeny Mall (@go 48). Use your Wug Mastery skill to summon a Warg.
  • Falcon Flute - A nifty item to have. Instead of going back to the Main NPC when you've switched out your Falcon for your Warg, you can just use this to instantly call back your Falcon anytime, anywhere. You can get this item from the Falcon Flute Trader NPC (@warp hu_in01 386 307) in the Hunter's Guild in Hugel. Just remember that you cannot have both Falcon and Warg out at the same time since you can only use one summon at a time.

SKILLS
  • Double Strafe - Your bread and butter skill. When gaining your Quincy Cross weapon, your damage with this skill will significantly increase due to the weapon's effect.
  • Sharpshooting - I did mention earlier about having skill delay reduction to use this skill at its optimal level. This skill is useful when you're dealing with an MVP or a lot of MVPs that have tons of summoned mobs around them. Use this skill for dealing good damage and clearing out the summons at the same time.
  • Arrow Storm - Your nuke skill. With the damage boost from the White Wing Set, this skill will deal massive amounts of damage when paired correctly with the right arrow and damage increasing cards.
  • Improve Concentration, True Sight, Fear Breeze, and Wind Walk - Your primary buff skills.
  • Unlimit, and Full Throttle - Since these skills have a long cooldown time, you're mainly going to use these when you want to finish off an MVP quickly or deal significant amounts of damage before anyone else could steal your loot priority.
  • Sensitive Keen - A good alternative to Detect. Especially good when mobs or MVPs are hiding. Using this skill will get them out of hiding status even without targeting. Of course, you'll need your Warg summoned to use this.
  • Falcon Assault - If you have invested a lot of INT stat, then Falcon Assault will be an invaluable skill for you. Despite it's cooldown, it makes up for it with it's high damage.

SOME TACTICS AND TIPS WHEN FACING MVPs OR DURING PvE
  • Don't rely too much on the healing effect of your upper headgear. This will greatly apply if you're just auto attacking an MVP and AFK for a bit. The MVP might damage you more than you could heal yourself and you'll just die. Of course, if you're already familiar with an MVP's damage, you could just do this without worry.
  • If you notice that you're missing your auto attacks or skills, most likely, the boss has Pneuma activated. When this happens, keep moving to another spot so that the MVP won't be standing on a Pneuma.
  • If you're planning on just normal attacking, it's best that you summon your Warg to greatly boost your damage.
  • Remember and familiarize each MVP's race and what element it is weak against and if Thanatos Card works on them. Doing so with greatly boost your damage and will trivialize annoying MVPs that heal a lot like Mistress, Doppelganger, and Moonlight Flower.
  • If you're gonna hunt some Baphomet Dolls in the MVP Warper, it's optimal to use an armor compounded with a Gloom Under Night card (to maximize your damage). To avoid getting killed by Pharaoh, use a Shadow Armor Scroll (enchants your armor with Shadow element for 30 minutes).
  • Unless you're going inside an instance, when facing MVPs, it's best to first get buffed with Full Chemical Protection by the Genetic NPC/Monster in First City (@go 50). This will allow you to use other middle headgears instead of solely relying on an anti-strip headgear.
  • Do remember that while you can increase your auto-attack range by way of various items, the maximum range for skills to be used is still applied. This is also applied for any skills auto-casted by items. This means that you cannot use Double Strafe while 19 cells away from your target. The bolts cast by headgears/accessories cannot proc when you're attacking from too far away.

NOTES
  • The primary equipment were recommended as such to minimize expenses to be newbie friendly as much as possible. Which is why most of them can be bought from NPCs, hunted from monsters/MVPs, or can be bought cheaply from players.
  • Some alternate NPC shops for headgears might not be included. I only put in the ones that are the most common / accessible.
  • It would be self-explanatory that most of the items recommended here can be bought from other players and there's no need to actually do the quests for them, except for your Hero Weapons, which are a must.
  • The White Wing Set pieces can be enchanted by the Artifact Researcher (@warp mora 147 98) at Mora Village using Mora Coins. To have a chance to get best stats from these enchants, such as Expert Archer, it is recommended that your armor is at least +9 in refinement.
  • I have personally hunted MVPs with these items, completed Endless Tower solo, done 3k Caspen Dungeon kills, farmed at Bossnia, and more. For a comparison, before using these items, I cannot even kill Valkyrie Randgris since she heals a lot. Now, she's just a piece of cake.
  • Upgrade levels for your equipment will depend on you. If you have the extra zeny and patience, you can go ahead and upgrade your items to the max and get the best enchants for them (especially for White Wing Suit).
  • Utilize shortcut keys so you wont have to keep on clicking on your skill bars. You'll become more efficient this way.
  • Placement of skills and consumables can vary from person to person. I, personally, put my offensive skills and some consumables on the first skill bar, buffs on the second, arrows on the third, and the rest of the consumables and items on the fourth.
  • This isn't necessarily a guide that can be used for most instances. As the title suggests, this is just for hunting those MVPs you can find out in the wild because I know some of my fellow rangers out there are having some difficulty in killing them. For doing instances, you might want to look up a few guides and adjust some items here and there. Then again, Rangers really aren't a popular choice when it comes to doing (or even soloing) instances.
  • Experience is always the best teacher.
